Welcome to the Daddy Longlegs website, opened to commemorate the band’s 40th anniversary, or 42nd or 41st, depending on how you count. The first album was released in 1970, and the first full incarnation of the touring group occurred in the same year. The site is dedicated to the memory of Steve Hayton, who sadly died in his Tobago home in December, 2006. Daddy Longlegs may be one of the most under-documented bands of the period, but thanks to the Internet and the personal collections of Moe Armstrong, Clif Carrison, Kurt Palomaki and Tim Sharman, there is enough to capture the flavor of the journey. And it was a journey with a story, and that story is more important than the ephemera of public notice. Of course, we would not be ungrateful if anyone has memorabilia from that period to share with us, especially audio, photographs or moving images of any kind. In time, the site will expand to include all four Daddy Longlegs releases. Where It All Began...

Buffo began in 1967 as a perfect idea only two (or twenty) years ahead of its time — find some good musicians, isolate them from the outside world, provide them with a large stash of cannabis and psychedelics and a very small ration of food (and no kitchen to cook it in), flatter them with stacks of state-of-the-art equipment, and hire a retired Hell’s Angel to provide security. more...
